Class : 6  Vocabulary 

1. Revamp 
(Verb) - give new and improved form, structure or appearance to.
(Noun) - an act of improving the form, structure or appearance of something.
(Examples) 
 1. The show was a revamp  of an old idea.
 2. The party is attempting to revamp it's image.
 3. An attempt to revamp the museum's image.

2. Mutation 
(Biology) - A change in the DNA sequence of an organism.
(General usage) - A significant change or modification in something.
(Examples)
 1. The building is a mutation of the original design.
 2. The condition is caused by a genetic mutation.
 3. The cat's short tail is the result of mutation.

3. Rely
(Verb) - depend on with full trust or confidence.
            - be dependent on.
(Examples)
  1. The charity has to rely entirely on public donations.
  2. You can rely on me.
  3. You can rely on our support .

4. Enumerate 
(Noun) - the action of mentioning a number of things one by one.
             - the action of establishing the number of something. 
(Examples)
  1. The complete enumeration of all possible genetic States.
  2. Detailed enumeration of the income of the household.
  3. A complete enumeration of residents in the area.

5. Condemning 
(Verb) - to say strongly that you think somebody/ something is very bad or wrong. 
           - to say what somebody's punishment will be; to sentence somebody.
           - to say officially that something is not safe enough to use. 
(Examples)
   1. A government spokesman condemned the bombing as a cowardly act of terrorism.
   2. Their poor education condemns them to a series of low-paid jobs.
   3. The building was condemned as unsafe and was demolished.

1. A yellow streak 
   * Cowardice in one's character.
Examples :
1. He's got a yellow streak; he won't try that jump.
2. I knew she had a yellow streak when she refused to face the bully.
3. The captain of the bridge was notorious for the yellow streak.

2. Above board 
   * Honest, not secret.
Examples :
1. The company's finances were all above board , and no irregularities were found.
2. The entire project was conducted in an open and above board manner. 
3. He made sure all his business dealing were above board.

3. Add insalt to injury 
   * To worsen an unfavorable situation.
Examples :
1. The car broke down on the highway, and to add insalt to injury, it started to train. 
2. Losing my job was bad enough, but they did not give me a reference, which really added insalt to injury.
3. Getting rejected from college was disappointing and to add insalt to injury, my friends all got accepted.

4. Armchair Expert 
   * One who gives advice in an area in which he was not actively involved.
Examples :
1. He's an armchair expert on finance, but he's never managed a budget.
2. My neighbour is an armchair coach, always criticizing the team's strategy without ever playing.
3. He is an armchair critic, always judging movies without understanding film making.

5. At close quarters 
   * Very near.
Examples :
1. The two boxers fought at close quarters, enhancing blows in the final round.
2. Working at closed quarters with my team helped us collaborate more effectively.
3. The documentary showed the wildlife at close quarters giving viewers a unique perspective.
